YEUNG YAT-FAN SIFU
Yeung Yat-fan Sifu teaches Pigua Tongbei Quan. This is a Northern Chinese kung fu style. Its elegant movements belie its powerful fist and foot applications. The Tongbei style was founded by Master Zhou Der-min in the early Qing dynasty. Its weapons forms include a distinctive long spear set. The art can be practiced as a system to perpetuate an individual’s youth and strength, but also has techniques applicable to self-defence. In tongbei, when the exercises are done, power is generated from the back to pass through the shoulders and then reach the arms. In this way, heavy blows can be delivered at the arm’s length to control the opponent.
